鹿児島の作家、盛永省治による石のスカルプチャー。

木の作品の印象が強い盛永さんですが、ウッドターニングの合間に、石という素材とも向き合っています。

私たちからすると大きく違うように思っていた木と石も、本人は同じ心持ちで削るといいます。もしかしたら、木の中にも石をみて、石の中にも木を見出しているのかもしれない。すべては木であり石であるのか、そんなことをも考えさせられる作品。

盛永省治

1976年鹿児島生まれ。家具メーカーで職人として勤務ののち、2007年に自身の工房を始める。同時にウッドターニングを独学にて開始。その後アメリカを代表するアーティスト、アルマ・アレンに師事。現在はウッドターニングによる作品を主に国内外での個展や合同展を中心に作品を発表している。
